What is CA 19.9 ?
CA 19.9 is a tumor-associated antigen that is elevated mostly in patients with Advanced Pancreatic Cancer. CA 19.9 levels may also be elevated in other cancers, conditions, or diseases such as colorectal cancer, lung cancer, gall bladder cancer, gallstones, pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, or liver disease. Although, increase in the levels of CA 19.9 does not distinctively suggest pancreatic cancer, currently, it is the single most useful blood test to differentiate benign disorders from malignant ones.
