This test is used to diagnose thyroid function. Estimation of FT3 and FT4 hormone levels improves the sensitivity and accuracy for diagnosing thyroid dysfunctions. When only T3 and T4 levels are measured, it may become difficult to reach a definitive diagnosis many times.
